Following their successful medal debut at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, India will have additional chances on Monday to add to their total. Shooter Ramita Jindal qualified fifth in the 10m air event and will have an opportunity to win an Olympic medal in the finals. She was in excellent condition. There are 117 competitors representing India in the Paris Olympics, with LPU athletes making up an astounding 21% of the total squad. These pupils are engaged in a variety of sports, such as boxing, weightlifting, shooting, hockey, javelin, and wrestling.
Neeraj Chopra (BA), the gold medallist in the men’s javelin throw at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (MA Psychology), a standout weightlifter in the women’s 49 kg division, are two of the prominent LPU athletes chosen for the Paris Olympics. Captain Harmanpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Shamsher Singh, Mandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh (all pursuing a BA), Manpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh (MBA), and Jarmanpreet Singh are the members of the Indian Hockey Team from LPU.

Boxers Lovlina (BA, 75 kg), Jasmine (B.P.Ed, 57 kg), and Preeti (B.Sc Health & Physical Education, 54 kg); wrestlers Anshu (MA English, 57 kg), Nisha (68 kg), Vinesh (MA Psychology, 50 kg), and Antim Panghal (53 kg); and shooter Arjun Singh Cheema (MA Public Administration), who was chosen to compete in the 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team events are among the other noteworthy LPU athletes chosen for the Paris Olympics. LPU will also be represented in the Olympics by athletes Kiran Pahal (BA), Balraj Panwar (BBA, M1x rowing), Paramjit, Vikash (men’s 20km race walk), and archers Dhiraj Bommadevra and Tarundeep Roy.

LPU has made significant investments in creating top-notch sporting facilities and offering deserving athletes full scholarships. Students at LPU have regularly achieved outstanding success in national and international contests as a result of this dedication. Thirteen LPU students competed for India in the most recent Olympics in Tokyo, 2020, and won three medals total—one gold, one silver, and one bronze. LPU keeps raising the bar for sports excellence, with 24 players signed up for Paris 2024.
The 33rd Olympiad consists of 754 sessions of ceremonies and competitions featuring 329 events in 32 sports. 10,500 athletes from all around the world are taking part.

The men’s archery team from India, consisting of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Pravin Jadhav, and Tarundeep Rai, will play Turkey or Colombia in the quarterfinals, with the possibility of winning a medal. Manu Bhaker will return to compete in the 10m air pistol mixed team qualification after capping her redemption act on Sunday with an incredible bronze in the event.

Day 2 Recap: India at the 2024 Olympics in Paris Following the heartbreak in Tokyo, Manu Bhaker made Olympic history by winning bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol, making her the first Indian woman to win a shooting medal. PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy both opened their badminton group-stage careers with victories in consecutive games. Nikhat Zareen, the two-time world champion, had a difficult draw, but she got off to a strong start by defeating Germany’s Maxi Carina Kloetzer. The Indian is off to a strong start, but there are tougher tests ahead.
